PAX 3 – Taking Version 2 To the Next Level
When I opened the PAX 3 box the one thing that caught my eyes – except the box being kind of “fat” – is that the PAX hasn’t changed on its outside structure which made me think, does this mean it hasn’t changed from the inside as well?
The answer, of course, is no…
PAX 3 is the same as PAX 2 that I like so much but even better with some upgraded features.
What are the main differences between PAX 3 and PAX 2?
Concentrates lid attachment – PAX 3 is now concentrates compatible. The demand from the community was high and the time was over for Pax Labs to release a concentrates solution, so they did.
The solution is a lid attachment with a special place to put the wax/shatter in. The concentrates attachment works like magic, taste is great and smooth and no burnt aftertaste felt – one that might come often out of dabbing pens.
PAX 3 is equipped with a new improved internal heater component, keeping the oven temp nice and steady while bringing down the heating time to 15 sec (PAX 2 was about 45 seconds).
Also with a larger 3500mAh battery, I could get out more sessions from one charge comparing to the 3000mAh PAX 2 battery.
One more main difference is that PAX 3 is now Bluetooth enabled. The PAX can be controlled using an app to do stuff like changing to exact temperature setting, switching vibrate mode on/off and more.
Tell Me More
The PAX 3 is a conduction vaporizer designed for loose-leaf plant material and extracts.
Operating the PAX 3 is simple. One click on the mouthpiece (the button) turns the PAX on and off, clicking and holding for 1 second will get you into the fixed temperature settings:
PAX 3 has 4 fixed temperatures (could be changed to exact temp using an app):
- 1 Green LED = 360F or 182C = 15 seconds heat up time.
- 2 Yellow LED’s = 380F or 193C = 16 seconds heat up time.
- 3 Orange LED’s = 400F or 204C = 17 seconds heat up time.
- 4 Red LED’s = 420F or 215C = 18 seconds heat up time.
Connecting the PAX via Bluetooth is very simple, you only have to pair the PAX with your phone, open the app and it will take care of all other settings.
Using the app you can change to exact vaping temperature, but not only, you could also use other preset modes like Efficiency, Boost, Flavor, and Stealth.
One more new feature is the “vibration when ready to vape”, it’s called “Haptics” and the settings of this feature can be changed inside the app. You can turn off vibration or change it to a medium or high setting.
This is what I wrote about PAX 2 design:
“A small and slick design makes the Pax 2 one of the best portable vaporizers out there. Put it in your pocket or hold it in your palm and you’ll not even notice it’s there.”
Same goes for PAX 3, the dimensions and weight are very similar keeping the outside design almost untouchable. Most of the work on PAX 3 was made on the inside.
A high-polish anodized aluminum is the finish of the outer shell, giving it a glossy look but not shiny keeping it premium but discreet.
The PAX 3 is available in 4 colors: Black, gold, silver and rose gold.
Vapor Quality & Taste
The taste of the PAX 3 is one of the best I’ve ever tasted. It delivers smooth and tasty vapor, I prefer to start with 3rd temperature setting so I will get the big clouds immediately. Since the release of the PAX, it has been my top pick and one of my favorites.
One of the best things Pax Labs are doing great from the beginning, starting with the original PAX to this day with the PAX 3, is keeping a distance between the oven and the mouthpiece using a stainless steel air pathway. This structure assures the vapor is cooled down before inhaling it.
The concentrates attachment works like magic and delivers great taste and buzz, it does not feel the same as a vaping pen because there is no use of a coil involved, it’s another feeling just like vaping vs. smoking weed.
What’s In the Box?
- Concentrate insert
- Half pack oven lid
- Full pack oven lid
- Flat mouthpiece
- Raised mouthpiece
- Maintenance kit
- Pipe cleaners
- Brush cleaner (for air pathway)
- O-Rings (for concentrate insert)
- 3 Oven screens
- PAX Multi-tool keychain
- Charger and Micro USB cable
Makes Me Happy
I just can’t stress enough how I’m grateful for the concentrates attachment lid. The option to vape now extracts with the PAX 3 is priceless.
Also, I really like that the design of the PAX 3 didn’t change from PAX 2 while remaining super discreet and one of the smallest vapes around keeping it my favorite for outdoor use.
A Bigger battery is always a blessed feature, the PAX 3 has now a 3500mA battery giving 60-90 minutes of vaping.
Makes Me Sad
What made me sad with PAX 2 was the charging dock, this didn’t change in V3. At home, it’s not that of an issue but when I wanted to charge on-the-go, it’s really not possible to keep the PAX connected to the charging dock. The solution for this, like I recommended with the PAX 2, is to use a rubber band.
It’s a Wrap
PAX 3 is a premium vaporizer that sells for $274.99, it’s not cheap but in return, you’ll get one of the leading vaporizers in all aspects. It produces super tasty vapor, big clouds in the higher temps, it’s portable and has a big battery. It is one of the leading vaporizers on market and I can only recommend this vaporizer as its top in its category and just got it all.
If you have a PAX 2 I wouldn’t run to buy the 3rd generation unless it’s not functioning well or you just want a new vape 🙂 Furthermore, if you want to use concentrates with your PAX 2 you can order only the lid attachment.
If you want to buy the PAX 3 vaporizer do that only at authorized dealerships, this promises you will get an original unit (no fakes) and a valid 10 years limited warranty. I recommend this store, it is an authorized PAX 3 retailer with excellent customer service and free shipping.
