Cutting Edge Vaporizer – Pax 2 Utilizes Technology and Innovation
When I opened the Pax 2 it was a love from first sight. The design and the packaging itself are just breathtaking.
I could immediately know that I’m in business with some quality vaporizer.
The Pax 2 is a cutting edge vaporizer, using technology, innovation and product design in its favor.
Pax 2, just like its older brother, the first Pax, is made for dried herbs/loos leaf material.
It is small and light, giving you real portability.
What Are the Main Differences Between the First Pax and Pax 2?
- A deeper oven allowing a consistent draw and more even roast.
- 4 Heating temperatures instead of 3, giving more temperature control.
- Larger battery life – 30% more use time, giving a work average of 90 minutes for a full charge. Battery takes 2-3 hours for a full charge.
- Lip sensing technology helps to save and optimize battery efficiency by reducing heating temperature to minimum when no lips touch the vaporizer for more than 20 seconds.
Tell Me More
The Pax 2 is a conduction vaporizer using direct draw as a vapor delivery method.
The 4 LED lights that make up Pax’s logo are a blessed feature that indicates the unit’s mode. It will tell you when the unit is heating (hint – see review main image color), when it’s ready to use (green light), if it’s in “sleep” mode (blue light) and what temperature are you vaping at (orange light).
Holding the on/off button for 2 seconds will get you into temperature control settings, each temperature assigned by a LED:
- 1 “leaf” lit: 360ºF (182ºC) – Low
- 2 “leafs” lit: 380ºF (193ºC) – Medium
- 3 “leafs”lit: 400ºF (204ºC) – Medium-High
- 4 “leafs” lit: 420ºF (216ºC) – High
There are some movement sensor tricks. First two are very useful and are done by shaking the unit:
- Check battery life, each “leaf” represents ¼ of battery life.
- Exit temperature settings.
- “Flashing mode”, that is when you spin the unit several times, this results a longer time before the unit goes into standby.
With a small and slick design this makes the Pax 2 one of the best portable vaporizers out there. Put it in your pocket and you will not even notice it’s there.
The dimensions of the Pax 2 are 3.87 x 1.21 x 0.85 and is weight is 90g.
The Pax 2 is made from polished, anodized aluminum shell. It comes in four different colors: charcoal (black), platinum(silver), topaz (aqua) and flare (red).
Vapor Quality & Taste
As a retired bong user I like thick vapor and big clouds. I’ve managed to get some thick vapor from this baby at the two highest temperature settings. While vaping with my girl, she likes to vape gentle, we both managed to enjoy the vapor quality that the Pax 2 delivers.
Chamber capacity is about 0.3-0.4g depending on how fine you grind the herbs.
The taste of which the unit produces is very smooth at first draws, getting less taste and smoothness at 6th draw and a roasted taste at 12th draw and up.
I got about 7-8 sessions from a fully charged battery, each delivers 15-20 draws.
What’s In the Box?
Included in the box is all you need to start using the Pax 2 immediately. I even got mine charged 3/4 way, leaving me only to turn on the device, wait 30-40 seconds and start vaping.
In the box: PAX 2 vaporizer, 2 x changeable top rubber pieces (1 flat, 1 raised), magnetic oven lid, magnetic USB charger, 10 x cleaner tools and a bottle of Isopropyl alcohol.
Makes Me Happy
Portability, Portability and.. Portability! Yes, this is by far the best portable vaporizer in meaning of size, battery life and ease of use.
The new mouthpiece. First time I’ve tried the new flat rubber mouthpiece it was a wired feeling putting my lips on the unit but when using it more over time, it felt kind of natural and it does utilize vapor quality to the max.
Cleaning the unit is very easy and you can do that with no hassle, except taking the oven screen out – see more on that below.
Makes Me Sad
Charging dock. I love the concept of the dock, it’s cool for home but it’s not practical for a vaporizer that supposed to be portable as possible, the reason is that the unit does not “stick” very well on dock.
If you are charging on the go or in your bag, you will have to tie the unit with a rubber band or something similar to the dock. Another simple solution is to leave your home fully charged, that should be more than enough!
The oven screen. It was hard to get it out when cleaning the unit (and the screen itself) and putting it back again. Yet, this is not a big deal and the solution for this is to pop out the screen with an inside of a pen or something similar.
It’s a Wrap
Does the Pax 2 really worth its price tag of $279.99? Well it does! It’s definitely the best portable vaporizer on market. It looks beautiful, vapor quality is great and the pros override the cons.
The Pax 2 is a bit pricey in its category but for my opinion it’s worth the money. You will get a state of the art portable vaporizer.
If you consider buying the Pax 2 do that only at authorized stores. You can buy at the official PaxVapor online store or from an authorized Pax 2 dealership like VapeWorld (both offer free shipping), this promises you will get an original unit (no fakes) and a valid 10(!) year warranty.
